Call for Papers

Today’s Archivists: Building Bridges to the Future

   

Deadline for proposals:
Friday, December 3, 2004
 

Building on the 2005 meeting theme, the Program Committee seeks proposals on possible topics to include, but not limited to the following: 

  • State Historical Records Advisory Boards

  • Cultural heritage and the archivists’ role in documenting

  • Collaborative and cooperative projects: local, intrastate, interstate

  • Politics (a good Louisiana topic) and archives

    • Politics within repositories

    • Documenting political institutions

    • Donor relations

    • Archival organizations as advocacy organizations

  • Back to basics

    • Focus on the material: photographs, manuscripts, ephemera, maps

    • What we didn’t learn in school, but needed on the job

    • Preservation and conservation topics

  • Planning for the future

Full session proposals are encouraged. Sessions are scheduled for 90 minutes and typically include three papers. For proposals, include title and brief description of the session and the titles and brief descriptions of each paper; names of session organizer and each presenter with affiliation, address, email address, and phone number for all. Individual papers may also be submitted with the appropriate information included in the proposal. The committee may form sessions based on individual papers submitted.

The deadline for submissions is Friday, December 3, 2004. Send all proposals to:
